New modern style. Legs are wide, but fits snug around the waist and hips, which helps them to flatter the figure. I'm 5-5.' Weigh 115. Bought a size 0 and they fit perfectly.
The shorts balloon out midway down the outer seam making them look a bit ridiculous. If you look carefully in the photos, the model has her hand in the pocket so the viewer can't notice the flair. In the photo from behind, her hand is pushing in on the fabric so that it doesn't flare out.

I LOVE these! It's so hard to find long denim shorts that aren't cropped. The wash is great and they fit super nicely. They hug more in the hips and loose and breathable in the legs to get the trendy long-shorts look. Maybe a bit tight in the crotch but worth it.

First of all, I love the quality of the denim and the construction of the shorts. Second, the shorts are a medium to light weight. I live where the summers get quite hot. These will be perfect. Last of all, the wide legs are roomy, but not so wide that I feel like I am wearing a skirt. I spend a good amount of time around kids...Let's just say that there isn't a need to wear bike shorts under these shorts. Well done Banana Republic Factory!
