Size down one for a flattering fit

My measurements are 36, 27, 40, and the xs fit perfectly. The distance around my shoulders is almost exactly the same as around my hip, and I am 5'7". I think if you get the correct size in this, you will love it. I typically buy a small, but size down to the xs based on the reviews. I bought the so...

This dress is big, shapeless and too long. I'm typically a size S but even the XS was large. I probably could have tried the XXS and been fine. The issue is it's shapeless everywhere and too long (and I am always looking for long dresses so if I say it's too long, it's too long). It looked like a ho...

Such a cute work dress and fits like a glove. Highly recommend for work and it's light weight in the summer heat.

I really should have read the reviews more closely. This is more matronly nightgown than stylish dress. Unfortunately not returnable.

I think if you get the correct size in this, you will love it. I typically buy a small, but size down to the xs based on the reviews. I bought the solid navy, and it looks very classy, simple, and figure flattering. I unbuttoned the top four buttons and used the belt (you could also use a belt you own around your waist). It also looks good without a belt and the first 5 or 6 buttons unbuttoned for a casual look (even though it is a silk like fabric). The lining just fits, but the dress has the appropriate amount of room and is forgiving, so you could easily abandon the lining (using the snaps) and put bikers and a tank underneath. Really pretty. #sweepstakes

The silky polyester fabric on this dress kept me cool on vacation. The drape/style is both stylish and classy. I wasn't crazy about the under slip- seemed to be a smaller size than the dress- and didn't use it.

The material is very thin.

The material of the dress looks diffent in the picture than the actual material the dress is made of.

Comments about Tie-Waist Midi Shirtdress

First, the shipping experience was incredibly frustrating. The delivery date kept changing---every single day---with repeated messages saying the item would arrive "by the end of the next day." After five days of delays, I was relieved it finally showed up today, but the wait was unacceptable. If you're being cheap and opt for using UPS Mail Innovations (the cheapest shipping method), I'd strongly advise against it. Just pay extra for a more reliable service. This one is simply not worth it. Second, I had really hoped to love the dress—but when I tried it on, I discovered a four-inch tear in the fabric near the front buttons, right along the seam at the thigh. What a bummer. Now what can I wear for my high school reunion in two weeks? I totally understand that examining a solid navy dress for flaws isn't always easy, but your quality control clearly fell short here. It felt like no one had even bothered to inspect it before shipping. (Mind you, I cut the package with scissors, cutting only the top edge of it and did my best not to damage the dress within. ) While these issues were hugely disappointing enough for me to give you a one-star review, I'm giving you an extra star because the return process was surprisingly smooth. I also have to say, the dress (minus the damage) was a nice piece for the sale price. Will I order from Banana Republic Factory again? Honestly—very unlikely. Even the best discount won't bring me back.
