I love everything about this dress. It has a patchy velvet pattern, and it has a lining. It's light but not see through. I am not sure what the bad reviews are about, likely it varies with the body type. I am 160£. 5'4, curvy, fits great in all the right places, even shows the waist line, and not too snug over the belly . May be it could have a lightly tighter fit, but this wouldn't be possible as it doesn't have a zipper. But I am 100% satisfied with the purchase.

I wanted to love this dress. I have several others in this cut from BRF, and I love them. I like this length even more, but the fabric on this was a miss for me. Usually a black burnout velvet will make my skin glow a bit and still be very elegant and flattering. This was dull, and the pattern is unfortunately unattractive. It someone took black paint and threw it against a wall, they would likely get this pattern. It is a missed opportunity for a lovely black velvet floral like Gap has right now. This was so close to being something great and timeless, but unlike the black velvet floral from Gap, this dress makes me look ill instead of glowy... more witchy womnn than elegant and lovely. 5'7", 35/26/39 (at the widest part of the hip). I bought the small, wondered if the reason it wasn't flattering was the size, went back for the extra small. Both fit fine, but the xs fits slightly better, and the length looks more like the picture. The straps are very difficult to adjust because of the type of fabric. In the end, I couldn't get over the fabric... going with the black velvet floral from Gap instead.

got petite small and it was still long and loose on me. i am 5'2, 120 lbs. i didn't realize it was a cowl neck. not for me. the breast section of the dress also isn't lined like the bottom part so it's somewhat see through?
